Born and raised on a cattle property north of Chinchilla, Queensland, he developed a love of the bush and traditional bush skills.

As a very busy youngster, his mother taught him to plait leather at the early age of five. He then went on to develop his plaiting skills by spending time with RM Williams on his property “Rockybar”. He learnt from one of the best thus laying the foundation for a lifetime love of creating beautiful pieces in leather.

He continued the art of leather plaiting, learning from people with a similar love of traditional bush craft. He continued his connection with RM and taught at his plaiting school on his property at Hodgson Vale, Queensland. After winning many awards at shows and the Dame Mary Durack Award five times, he has gone on to judge leather plaiting competitions such as Australian Plaiters and Whip makers Championships.

He has now been plaiting leather for 40 years and is specialising in personalised orders to meet the needs of the client. He crafts all his articles from Kangaroo skin which is the strongest leather in the world. He crafts a wide selection of goods from your traditional plaited belt to high end fashion items.

His art work has been sold to clients around the world as personal and corporate gifts.

He now works from home at East Greenmount, Queensland and as a resident artisan at Cobb+Co Museum in Toowoomba. He runs regular workshops at the museum throughout the year. He has also tutored at “Dimension in Leather” in Brisbane.
